2020-2021 Fall Semester

The first students of the Department of Economics and Finance,

We have completed the first term of our department together during the Covid-19 process.  I would like to thank you all and our esteemed teachers for your contributions.

In this process, we all had a very different educational experience due to Covid-19. The opening of the university with online education caused many positive and negative elements to be experienced together. You haven’t had the experience of being a university student and staying on campus. In addition, you have been away from the social intimacy and more active participation in the lesson brought by face-to-face education. On the other hand, online education; It also brought advantages such as being able to watch the lessons as videos, accessing the presentations, continuing the use of the blackboard in the lesson thanks to the graphic tablet, and benefiting from the online course materials.

During this semester, we worked with you on Finance-I, Economics and Financial Mathematics-I courses together. I observed clearly that the friends who constantly followed the lessons were also successful at the end of the semester. In addition, please note that course participation contributes greatly to your development not only in terms of course success, but also in subjects such as vision / expression / knowledge / experience / interpretation that depend on the course instructor.

I’ve asked you to write an evaluation of the first semester. I wanted you to be able to go back and make an assessment in the future and make a note of the history of our department. I’m publishing it without touching the dot and comma.

To many healthy, peaceful and successful periods…

The thoughts of some students in the Department of Economics and Finance;

Izel UYANIKSOY

Our university life, which started with the Covid-19 process, was not what I expected. I didn’t get a chance to get to know the university environment. University is, in my eyes, where people know themselves, develop or even socialize. With the introduction of distance education, we were deprived of all these opportunities, I could not access the university environment in my head. Other than that, I had doubts about whether online education would be efficient. However, as I attended classes and got to know our teachers, this hesitation was replaced by positive thoughts. I think our teachers handled this situation very well. I am happy to know successful teachers in their fields and make good friends. I hope to get my dream university life back as soon as possible.

Merve Irem KAPLAN

I am Merve Irem Kaplan, a student in Economics and Finance. This year, due to coronavirus, we had to do the first semester classes online. It was challenging to work from a distance. I’m afraid there were times when we couldn’t attend classes. There were times when we were sick and the internet was troubled, but we watched and followed the lessons we missed. It was also useful to record the lessons, because of the virus. Despite these opportunities, I think the lessons went well. I would like to thank our teachers for their hard work. I hope that with their efforts and our work, we can move forward even better and achieve good things.

Muhammet Murat AKDOGAN

Hello teacher,

In the first-class fall semester of the Department of Economics and Finance, we started school with an extraordinary experience during an extraordinary period due to the current pandemic process. As different as this has been for us, I think it is also that different for you. We made an effort to get the best result in these conditions. Although our learning process has been facilitated to some extent with the understanding of our school and you instructors, we have not fully tried the experience of being a university student. Perhaps it is possible to compare the existing system with a different experience and may also contribute to the educational process. I’m sure you’ll analyze this process in the best way as instructors.

It was like we were in class at the computer, in a home environment, but also at the beginning of class. The best part is, listening to a lecture while sipping our coffee in class can be considered a privilege…  What I can’t forget is the friendly approach of the teachers, making boring subjects enjoyable with good examples when describing the lesson. I hope this process will have a positive impact on all sectors. Their gains are left to us and we will see and remember the benefits in the future.

Endless greetings and thanks to all my classmates, teachers who patiently answered our questions…

See you on the days when we will be on the street without pandemics and freely….

Nur Helin BOZLAR

During this period, we tried to spend the period as efficiently as we could thanks to you during the distance education process. Our lessons during the semester were very enjoyable. Our teachers welcomed us very warmly, even from afar. Our teachers were very interested and friendly. Personally, for myself, there have been some negative events in my life and I’ve had moments where I’ve had difficulty with it, but it was also pretty good when I looked at the beginning of the period.
